Core Services

Our services are designed to provide resources, information, skills, and knowledge for individuals to maintain independence in their lives, homes and in their community.

Information and Referral

Although we provide a variety of services, we understand that we cannot meet everyone’s needs. We can connect individuals to other agencies that can also assist them.

Independent Living Skills Training

Ability 1st Utah provides opportunities for training classes, resources, and information to help increase the self-reliance, confidence, and independence of our consumers.

Individual and Systems Change Advocacy

Through this service, our consumers learn to be assertive when faced with obstacles in pursuit of their independent living goals.

Peer Support

Peer Support is based on the concept of mentoring. Advice and guidance from others in similar situations can encourage a more positive and hopeful outlook on life.

Nursing Home and Diversion

This program helps adults transition from a nursing home or assisted living facility into their chosen community environment.

Youth Transition Services

The Youth Transition to Adulthood serves students 18 to 30 years old who are in need of independent living skills to assist them with the transition from high school to community living.
