Since January 2001, Ability 1st Utah has been providing services to individuals of all ages with all types of disabilities to help them remain independent in their homes and active in their communities. We are one of six independent living centers in the state of Utah, serving the counties of Wasatch, Utah, Juab, and Sanpete.

It is our firm belief that people with disabilities have the same rights as those without, including the right to full participation in their communities. Our organization seeks to remove the limitations that people with disabilities face and provide the education, resources, and equipment to help them enjoy independent lifestyles.

Ability 1st Utah Board of Directors provides governance and direction for the center. Board members are volunteers from communities in our center’s service area.

As a federal mandate, membership of our Board of Directors must be made up of at least 51% individuals with disabilities. The Board of Directors meets once a month except for July and December.
