Equipment Loan Bank

Ability 1st Utah has an equipment loan bank for durable medical equipment (DME). Most of the equipment has been donated to our center, which means that some of the equipment is gently used. Some of the devices are new devices purchased from center resources. These devices are available for loan to eligible consumers.  For those unfamiliar with the loan bank concept, we offer the use of durable medical equipment (DME) to our consumers on a temporary basis, until permanent equipment can be accessed and placed with the consumer.

So most all of the equipment except for newly purchased equipment will be on an “As Is basis. Ability 1>st Utah has a limited amount of assistive equipment for loan to consumers, such as manual wheelchairs, power chairs, scooters, walkers, shower benches, and commodes.

The type of DME items available at given times depends on the items donated to Ability 1st Utah. Ability 1st Utah always appreciates donated DME equipment in good usable condition. If interested in borrowing DME equipment from Ability 1st Utah’s equipment loan bank, please read through the following documents.

Device Loan Period:

Loans are made for an initial 90-day period and can be extended to a longer period if necessary, provided there are no other requests received from other individuals with disabilities for the same device.
