Equipment Loan Bank

We can loan equipment through our Loan Bank:

Ability 1st Utah has an equipment loan bank for durable medical equipment (DME).

Most of the equipment has been donated to our center, which means that some of the equipment is gently used.

Some of the devices are newly purchased from center resources. These devices are available for loan to eligible consumers.

For those unfamiliar with the concept of a loan bank, we offer the use of durable medical equipment (DME) to our consumers on a temporary basis, until permanent equipment can be accessed and placed with the consumer.

All equipment, aside from the newly purchased items, is available on an “as is” basis.

Ability 1st Utah has a limited amount of assistive equipment on loan to consumers, such as manual wheelchairs, power chairs, scooters, walkers, shower benches, and commodes.

Availability of DME items is dependent on the types of items donated to Ability 1st Utah. We always appreciate donated DME equipment that is in good, usable condition.

If you are interested in borrowing DME equipment from Ability 1st Utah’s equipment loan bank, please read through the following information:

Device Loan Period:

Loans are initially made for a 90-day period. They can be extended to a longer period if necessary, provided there are no other requests received from different individuals with disabilities for the same device.

How can I Request a Device?

Individuals with disabilities who are interested in borrowing a device must begin the process by meeting with an independent living specialist. During this initial intake, they will complete all the required paperwork.

Equipment can be picked up at the center or delivered to your home.

If you are interested in borrowing from or donating to DME from Ability 1st Utah’s equipment loan bank, please contact our equipment manager listed below.
